Save your bibliographic search results
Users can save their bibliographic search results with the help of a Citation Management Software. Such tool reveals very useful to manage and maintain a bibliographic reference database.
The said program integrates its own functions with text editors like Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer or Pages, allowing the automatic creation of a bibliography that users can include in the document they are working on. Moreover, some programs offer the chance to share citations, find those related to one’s own interests, archive and classify scientific articles published in PDF format.
UniTO Digital Library offers information and assistance on the following softwares:
- EndNote: commercial product of Thomson Reuters; it works on Windows and Mac. It can be synchronized with its online counterpart EndNote Web, which is free for all UniTo users after the University of Turin subscribed the platform ISI Web of Knowledge. To use this tool, a web account should be previously created.
- Mendeley: an easy to use software - the basic version is free. It can manage groups of users who are enabled to share bibliographies and articles by using a rich community-based bibliographic database. It is available for all operating systems.
- Zotero: free, open source software which was born as a Firefox browser extension. Now available as an independent application compatible with all operating systems, it shows high versatility in grabbing citations from editorial platforms. Please consult the Zotero user guide (italian version).
- CiteULike: online social bookmarking service - the basic version is free. It has a rich variety of functions for exporting citations.
